Who Would Buy This: Owners of the new Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD models who want the convenience of faster charging times.
Pros:
The PowerFast charger has been designed for quick charging Amazon Kindle Fire tablets and is even compatible with the original Kindle Fire as well as the latest models.
This 9W charger has significantly faster charging times than charging your Kindle via your computers USB port where charging time can be as long as 13.5 hours. The estimated charging times for each Kindle device are below:
• Kindle Fire HD 8.9" – Under 5 hours
• Kindle Fire HD 7" – Under 4 hours
• Kindle Fire – Under 3 hours
The two PowerFast adapter prongs fold down for convenient storage so you can toss the adapter in your bag before travelling without the prongs sticking out.
The adapter can operate in other countries outside the US with use of a special power conversion adapter.
Cons:
There is no LED indicator on the adapter to inform you when the charging process has completed. Also, the new Kindle Fire HD does not feature an indicator on the power button to inform you of a full charge like the previous models did. However, there is an app available on the Amazon Apps store known as Battery HD which monitors the battery’s current power level during charging so you know how much longer it needs.
Many consumers are frustrated that the adapter wasn’t included as standard with the Kindle Fire.

Summary
The PowerFast charger is a quality device and a must have accessory if you’re a regular user of the Kindle Fire. Who really wants to leave their computer on all day or night to charge their Kindle, I mean really?
It’s sleek looking, compact and very versatile. It would have been nice if Amazon included it with the Kindle Fire, but we recognize its benefits and give it our endorsement.
Note: If you have a smart phone charger with a micro-USB type connector you can use that to charge your Kindle Fire so this device isn’t necessary.
